21/7/16 14:27Both kids are asleep. At the same time!!! That happens so rarely that I don't know what to do with myself. It's too warm to go outside. Though I have to admit that it's not as warm as the days before, 7C less actually. But still, I don't like sitting in the sun.
Matthijs likes being outside, he's a brown bear now. Haha.
The butterfly bushes got their first blooms. Yesterday, we saw the first butterfly in it. One butterfly even landed on me (I wore a pink top yesterday.) Can't wait to see more butterflies. On the first weekend of August, it's butterfly-count-day. I think, I'm going to do it again. It's fun to sit down for 15 minutes and tell all the butterflies in our backyard.

19/5/15 11:23We bought new screens for Matthijs, seems like he sleeps longer now. If we had known...
Since last week, I get up when Matthijs had his first bottle. Normally, we put him back into bed, but he's so awake then that he won't go back to sleep and won't let us sleep either. I gave in and let him play after his first bottle, 1,5 hours later, he's tired enough to go back to sleep. And then, he actually sleeps long enough to get some work done. This way, I've finished writing the modules for school. We had to write 10 of them, I've got 12. Haha. People will hate me. But there will be more work until end of the schoolyear and Habibe won't do much, because of major incompetence. From what I've heard from Jeannette, there won't be any lessons for her next year.
On Monday, I take half of Habibe's class for one hour. The students aren't happy when they have to go back to Habibe. And they were happy to hear that I will take their oral exams.
For my birthday, Henk wants to get me a new bike. On Friday, we went to different stores and I found one that I like. Unforunately, Henk also asked what the electric bike would cost. Hmm, and then the thinking started. Electric bike or not. With an electic bike, I'd be less dependent on Henk and public transport. And I can go to school by bike.
Henk talked with his mother about it (she who has the most luxurious electric bike) and she was all negative. If I go too fast on my bike, Matthijs would get too cold. It's expensive and I don't go that often by bike anyway. Henk got the feeling that she'd be jealous if I get one. WTF?
Yesterday morning, I had lots of time to think about it and I decided that I want the electric bike. Henk thought so too. He's going to pay one half and I the other half. I never buy anything for myself, so why not. Now I have to decide which color (black or off-white) and which color for the child bike seat. (Henk wasn't amused when I said black with yellow seats. :D) I think it's going to be off-white with ocean blue seats.
Matthijs still can't crawl, but he's getting everywhere he wants with rolling and rotating. And he seems to know how he has to roll and rotate to get to a certain place. It's pretty fascinating to see.

22/3/13 15:19After I had a good day on Monday, Tuesday was horror again. That one class is killing me. There are like 5 students that are ruining everything for anyone else.
Wednesday, I all day in bed/ on the couch, because I had a headache that didn't want to go away. At 6pm, I nearly felt normal again. That day sucked.
Thursday was mostly okay, but I had that class again. I did oral exams with some students, while the others were supposed to do some exercise on the computer. But two students wouldn't do that, so I wanted them out of my class, but they wouldn't leave. I went to the team leaders, but no one was there, so I asked our concierge to get them out. One of the students still wouldn't leave. Even his classmates told him to leave. Eventually, he went away, and the teamleader came. This boy's in big trouble now. He already was suspended last week, and today again.
The other boy was pretty much scared off by the team leader, you could see it in his face.
The other troublemaker from that class has to behave also, because otherwise, his parent will send him to a boarding school.
That's daily life in school.
Next Friday, there's a study day for all teachers. But lucky me, I got out of it. I don't want to spent my day off at school, where I won't learn something new anyway. It's about activating didactics and I'm one of the two teachers who are actually doing that in their lessons.
